Thanks guys! I can't wait to get the lift installed... and then new tires... and then maybe the mod bug will back off long enough for me get some work done on my garage.
Edit: I wanted to include the method that I used for painting my wheels, which was done before I started this thread and that I had recently posted on a local Jeep forum.
This is how I painted my wheels:
The Supplies:
-wide painters tape
-320 grit sandpaper
-tarp
-tack cloth
-Duplicolor black wheel paint, 4-6 cans
I worked one wheel at time over a couple of days...
The Procedure:
-remove wheel from rear tire carrier
-hand sand every bit of the wheel while watching "Battlestar Galactica" on DVD (the new series, not the 70's version)
-once your hand uncramps and you are sure that any finish, dirt or brake dust is no longer going to be a issue, proceed to use the tack cloth to remove all sanding dust any other loose material.
-tape off the tire so that you do not get any paint on it
-place tire on tarp outside, begin with two light coats of paint, waiting 20 to 30 minutes between coats, depending on how involved you are in the plot of the show.
-apply subsequent coats until the finish is uniform and somewhat shiny
-change out the DVD for the next one, being careful not to put fingerprints on the shiny side.
-once the last coat is very well cured, turn the wheel over and do the other side (yes, I did the inside as well)
-once wheel is fully cured, swap it for the next one, taking this opportunity to rotate the tires as well (if you want, I was at 5000 miles, so it made sense to go ahead and do it)
****very important****
-Do Not, under any circumstance post up on the forum about painting your wheels without immediately including pics. It will not be tolerated.
