Jessa,
It's supposed to be record setting hi temps today. Which is rare here this early in the year.
I moved here about 4.5 years ago. I live between Eugene & Corvallis, both of which are college towns and are more northern, as rickreno said, the south part of the state from Rosburg down is usually 10 degrees more severe, than here in the Alsea Valley. He's right, that it rains more as you move north. What they dont tell you is that all the green you see from an airplane is MOSS.

Un-employment last year was the highest of the 50 states, but is getting better this year. No Sales tax is cool on big purchases, like an FJ, but they say property taxes are to make up for it. I've lived in Calif & Colorado, and dont see the Prop taxes much different. Gas is as expensive as So. Calif.
Housing is affordable, at least as far as I've seen. I dont know the portland area. Wages, from what I've seen are low compared to Calif.

I'm on the west side of the Cascades (Mountain range that runs north & south) and about 35 miles from the beautiful Oregon Coast, and for the most part love it here. I just checked you profile and at your age, have you looked at all at Colorado, near Colorado Springs?
I'm fortunate to have my own CAD Drafting Business, so employment and or kids going to school are not a problem I have to worry about.
Hope this helps, if you need any more info email me. Dont go thru my website, as I havent updated it in 5 years.
Well goodness!

Thankyou so much for your post, We were thinking about colorado as its closer, but with rescued pitbulls we have to be careful where we move because of breed specific legislation which does not allow pitbulls in certain counties. The dogs are our number one concern, then weather, then safety(like no tornadoes or earthquakes or stuff that will kill us!). We are renting here still, and our rent just got raised for the second time this year so we are renting now for 900 when we could easily have a house payment...so because of that and the heat here in Az its just not worth the sorrow of life here! If I do need anything I will make sure to contact you!!

Jessa... I'll give you 20 bucks if you can get a plant to start growing in the mud stuck to your rear wheel well liner and then take a picture
