Re: The Official "Bike Rack" Thread

Using the Yakima lowrider max system. Mounted one Yakima crossrail in front. To keep height down I fabricated some clamps to secure the back end of the bike rails to a cross member of the factory rack. This way the rig can pass under my garage door (sans bikes, of course). Also gives an overall level appearance, which I like.

I'm 6'-1" tall so I can get the bikes up and down okay. Shorter people may have trouble with roof racks for the FJ. Its a looong way up there. I also take the seatpost/saddle off the mountain bike to give me a little more overhead clearance. A seatpost quick-release is handy for that.
