There were 1539 FJ Cruisers sold in the US last month. This number represented 73% of the objective that Toyota Motor Sales had set for July.
With all of the gasoline issues out there, as well as the "anti-SUV" sentiment, this number of sales was to be expected.
The highest number of sales was recorded in the Gulf States region with 260. This was followed by the Denver region with 186, and 185 in the Southeast.
Unfortunately the sales in July of 2008 were only 37.5% of what was sold in July of 2007. Year to date sales of 17,964 represents 53% of prior year.
Truck and SUV sales have dropped to about 30% of the total vehicle sales in the US, and car sales are actually very good. For Toyota July 2008 car sales exceeded July 2007. Year to date car sales for Toyota are dead even with last year.
There are 12,966 FJ Cruisers in Toyota dealer’s inventory as well as some great incentives out there – so if you were ever thinking of buying and FJ or an SUV or pickup…there are phenomenal deals to be had. In the Southeast there is $5000 customer cash on Tundra.
