I agree that this seems like a very expensive fix for a stupid mistake.

I dig bang it in pretty bad and the local guy did first suggest just getting it back into shape. He said he would definitely do this if it was an old beater or something, but on a car less than a year old he didn't feel comfortable. The crushed bit is where the exhaust pipe runs over a piece of the frame. I appreciate his concern for my car and we called the parts shop to find that the rear exhaust pipe for the TRD runs around $250. Expensive yes, but for a car that is 1 of 3000 made I'd like to keep it in as good of shape as possible.
Dinner with girl: $100
Stupid mistake while being distracted in the rain: $350
Ugh. Expensive evening.
