I don't see much of a problem blending your own formula and using the Diesel to cut the 90W sounds reasonable ( i have never done this myself )
My recommendation for the chain saw lube is simply because it is a common item that works very well and it can be picked up just about anywhere . The biggest problem with recommending mixtures is without knowing the amount of dilution used you may end up with too thick a coating which will be a dirt magnet for your line.
