Long Canyon is accessed from the road leading to Dead Horse State Park, and is north of Canyonlands' entrance. I chose the route down the canyon wall, being a noob wheeler myself, rather than climb the trail. Found 4L with my AT invaluable in crawling down the trail in spots where the road was a deep pile of silt-like sandstone.

It lists many off-road adventures in the area.
You might have a difficult time finding the Long Canyon trailhead, since there is no signage.
I do not have the book before me now, but say the word and will give you directions from the book later tonight after I get off work.
