I thought I'd post a note, since I know how hard it is to find a decent detailer here in the East Bay.
I did a lot of googling and asking around, and ended up selecting a place called Mike's Custom Detailing in Alameda. They were voted in the Top 5 for auto detailing by the SFGate crew, and the only one even remotely convenient for me.
They do a clay job, hand wax, detailing, touch up paint, interior and exterior cleaning; shampooing of floor mats, and plastic treatment. He charged $300 for the FJC, and they took all day to do it (I dropped it off the evening before so they could get an early start. It was finished at 6 pm or so).
