The Official DNR Website is a good place to start. like kzoo mentioned, weekdays are best; and for god's sake dont even try to show up on a big holiday (memorial day, labor day and independence day are all really crazy). the voucher system is basically like taking a number. when you show up at the reg. shack in the morning they assign you a timeframe for entry, like 12-2 pm, for example. there is no time limit so you dont have to leave at a certain time... they use the voucher system to keep the lines to get in manageable. there is a campground on the state park as well, i think it runs about $10 a night? im not sure to be honest, i havent been camping in michigan for probably 10 years. its not a bad idea to pack in extra fuel and food if you plan on staying the entire weekend, silver lake is kinda in the boonies so goods and services come at a bit of a premium.
