Only VERY high compression engines, or super charged engines, or turbo charged engines need high octane fuel. Toyota wants you to think the motor needs 91 octane so you think you bought a high performance vehicle. This is the same engine as my 2005 tundra and it doesn't say 91 octane only. I have been running 87 octane from day one because there is no need to throw money out my window when I can get navigation with the money I am saving.
