Anything is possible if you have the right skills, tools, time and $$$$.
If I understand your premise correctly, you are planning on buying a 4X2, converting it into a 4X4 with a solid front axle by adding an Atlas transfer case and running front drive shaft into the solid front axle.
Really not much different than someone who does the same but removes the front IFS diff. Check out the few solid axle conversions by sbechtold, MissFJ, M&M and you will see what's involved...
The manual transmission is only available in 4x4 so it has the correct tail housing to bolt to a transfer case. The problem is if you want an automatic. The automatic has a different tail housing depending on if you get it in 4x2 or 4x4.
Good choice. You just saved yourself about $2k-3k (and one helluva lot of work) with your decision.
