I did that last year, Cooked it, then put it into a bunch of containers and froze it solid, then i put it in the cooler with the ice and it made the 2 day trip still solid. And tasted just as good.
Thanks for the info, I would like to participate as long as this works! I have 2 good recipes, now just have to decide which one to make!! I like the way it tastes the next day better anyway, same with spaghetti sauce!
I'm in for the cook-off. I'll have some gen-oo-wine Texas chili (just like Mom used to make.) None of this watered down soup most people call chili. Several cows and a few pigs have to die in order to make this chili. This is stick to your ribs, chuckwagon style chili. I'd tell everyone else to not even bother entering but apparently we need a few losers so I can win the grand prize fair and square. So, who's hungry?
I'm in! Oh, wait - I'm not going to the summit this year...
Regarding the earlier logistics questions (and based upon my experience last year):
1) Bring your own campstove and propane
2) You'll need pots, pans, all the normal cooking utensils (beer )
3) Before leaving for the summit, I stopped at Sam's and bought a bunch of plastic spoons and a small case of paper serving trays (french fry trays).
You'll need these for the crowd's samples.
4) Tortilla chips or crackers, as a palate cleanser and/or condiment
My ultimate advice: Calculate how much chili you think need to make, then double it (at least). I ran out of chili rather quick, and wished I had made more. I don't know how to serve stingy samples, so mine went fast...

Dennis, you ran out, because you had the best chili...real chucks of Grade-A steak meat...mmmm .. The competition is lucky that your not going to be there, now they have a fighting chance at winning
JK- other chilis were awesome too, but Dennis' was awesome.
If there are enough entries, would it be possible to post the winning recipe here on the Forum? Unless, of course, the winner has some secret family recipe they want to keep under wraps!
