1st rule of me volunteering... I get first taste!

**Edit** You can PM me or email the contact email given by Seth above. I forgot he put that there.

Re: 2009 FJ Chili Cook-off

You're going to need a judge (or 3), that has both an iron stomach, and a gastronomical inclination / tolerance towards the spicy side of life.

I confess to both of these pre-conditioning conditions, and offer my services.

Chili good!

Re: 2009 FJ Chili Cook-off

OK, so here's the low down:

-We plan to start between 5:30 and 6pm on Wednesday evening.

-Participants need to bring enough chili to make about 10-15 medium size servings. This should be enough for the judges and several people to have some. If you want to make more, that would be great.

-The chili is really all you need to bring (and some way to heat it up and/or keep it warm.) Bowls, napkins, spoons, etc. will be provided.

-For those not interested in the chili (I can't imagine who that might be) and to supplement the chili, there will also be burgers and hot dogs provided that evening.

-The plan is to have some small prizes for some category winners (maybe hottest, best veggie, best white chili - depends on what shows up) and then a substantial prize for the overall winner.

-To enter, please email us @ chili@fjsummit.org. We need at least 15 entrants to justify giving a nice prize to the winner.

So, come one, come all to the FJ Summit chili cook-off!

(P.S. - I don't know if it's possible, but could we move this post to the top of this thread? Or maybe Seth could copy and paste into his original post.)

Re: 2009 FJ Chili Cook-off

I made about a gallon or 1 and a half, served more like 50 small nbowls of deliciousness. Also, you will need your own heat source, most had stoves or burners last year.

Re: 2009 FJ Chili Cook-off

Oh, and pallet cleansers would be nice, but certainly not required. Chips, chunks of bread, crackers etc. Again, not required!
