Re: 2009 FJ Chili Cook-off

We have eight. Two more and we'll be sure the prize is really sweet!

Was that a put down or just a statement?

Hi, who ever is in charge, sign me up. Send me the insurance waivers or whatever I need in case someone becomes permanently disabled from it.

Since I am leaving Sunday from Dallas, my plan would be to make it, freeze it and bring it with me. Any suggestions on how to keep it frozen/fresh until Wednesday? Do I have to warm it up in my hotel room, providing they let me run a kitchen in the room, or are there facilities to warm it up there?

How much should I make? Lbs of meat, etc.? How big are the servings? Besides the chili what else do I need to bring? Utensils, plates, etc?

Here is a true story of what a Texas chili will do to the weak:
Email Joke... Good Ol' Texas Chili Cookoff - GotApex? Forums

Also, does any place in Ouray sell real beer or is it all 3.2%?

Thank you.

As far as heating it up, you'll need you own heat source. I plan on using an electric crock pot, but will also bring my 3 burner stove just in case. I can share if someone needs it.

You should bring enough for 10-15 medium size servings. That'll be enough for the judges and some others. Of course, you can make as much as you want. Bowls, utensils, etc, will be provided. The only other thing that has been suggested is "palate cleansers" such as chips, bread or crackers. But, that's up to you.

We're getting close to having enough entrants to warrant a really nice prize so tell everyone you know to enter. It's gonna be great!
