I know I'm a newbie as this will be my 4th summit in a row, but be advised, this will be my 4th Summit in a row! ;-) Date is locked and loaded, fingers ready to blaze the keys!
Thanks for the heads up. The FJ Summit is on my bucket list and sights set on #10 . I've been following dfyffe's and others' Summit videos and I'm pumped!
I'm getting the impression that the process of registering for Summit is like trying to check in on SouthWest to get the lowest boarding position number. Is this a reasonable assessment? I don't want to miss this opportunity to participate.

We have no control over how quickly registration fills so our best recommendation is to be sitting there and register quickly when it opens. You can log back in and pick trails. 37 minutes was crazy fast last year but we've learned to not be surprised if it is even less than that.
I'm hoping to be able to register for Summit 10! After watching last year's record sellout, though, I'm guessing it'll take a bit of luck to get in. If I can't register, would it still be okay for us FJ enthusiasts to stop by summit headquarters to check out the vendors' booths?
According to Google Maps Im looking at a 4,853km or 3015 miles journey to get there........don't care still going to try to get a seat at the table. Hope to see you all there. Cheers
It was about 5000 miles R/T for me for Summit 9, but I did a little touring on the way out and back. Sadly I do not think I will be able to go in 2016.
I drove from Atlanta and it was not too bad - did the whole drove solo and made a little Route 66 trip out of it. Several other of the Georgia FJ Cruiser folks have also attended the past couple of years. Altogether I was gone for three weeks, including the time for Pre-Summit and Summit.
If you are interested, I can dig up my trip expense records to give you an idea of what it cost me.
I am going to make the extra effort on being able to attend this year. I had planned to attend last year but went to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb instead.
I'm thinking of just having my FJ shipped to Colorado opposed to driving from Atlanta. Gotta look up transportation cost to make that decision for me.
I'm an auto hauler by trade. Make sure to record all if any scuffs scratches & and take pics of your vehicle + frame as whomever hauls it will use chains on the frame to tie your rig to the truck. That way if damage arises you'll have proof that it wasn't there before transport. Sry I can't tell you what the rate from Georgia to Colorado is, but remember this. You'll get what you pay for. You may not get the best service going the cheapest route. Condition of the transport truck, and appearance of the driver matter dramaticly actually to how you fj will be treated as it won't be the only vehicle on the truck. Good luck. May see you there! :grin
Look into the Ouray KOA, we stayed there this year and it was fairly inexpensive. It's just a few miles outside of town. There is also the amphitheater you can camp at for free but it's not regulated or managed at all. Personally we'll be spending the money for showers again next year.
Yes, they have a couple buildings with restrooms and showers. The showers are fine. Nothing special but adequate. Early bird get to shower without waiting in line,
