You can bash GM, but please stop bashing all American manufacturers. Without Ford the world wouldn't have a little thing called the assembly line. The American CEOs may hurt quality because they think all about the bottom line, but this country has invented all mass protection techniques.
past history aside, thats like saying that i should be blamed for slavery because im a white guy. american auto makers have done some cool stuff in the past, but they are seriously dropping the ball in the present. its not like it cant be done either, look at Harley Davidson. they were horrible for quality and reliability in the 80s, but they fixed their problems and are going strong now. maybe other american motor vehicle companies should take note.?

FYI: Toyota builds the majority of their cars for the US in the US, by US workers so stop the US bashing!
i agree, i dont know how many time i have had to defend myself for driving a toyota to some hillbilly for being "un-american." this with the USMC sticker in the back window, no less. a good number are still made overseas (4runner, FJ, Land Cruiser, some of the cars too); however, the last i checked toyota directly employes more than 100K americans, and that figurer counts only manufacturing plants, engineers etc. it doesnt include dealerships, distributors, parts manufacturers, etc.

And toyota is hiring americans, instead of laying them off like ford and co. the Big 3 are dropping the ball, not americans.
