Gon2srf - when I had those cans I strapped them down very tight across the two lower bars. I moved the bars all the way towards the back, 10" or so apart. They want to slide all over the place, but you can really crank on the strap without worry.
Did a regular pep boys strap for each. It's super secure if you wrap the strap around the can handle at some point.
I only switched to metal because I found I could thrubolt the blitz holders to the same crossbars, and it was even better.
