One question on the skid plates. From the pictures, most seem like they would make oil changes a real PITA, which ones still allow easy access to the filter and drain plug? What about access to other maintenance points?
The oil filter is accessed from above right behind the fan shroud so no issue. I believe that only the DeMello design requires dropping the front/engine skid to access the oil drain plug (no acess hole). You don't want too big of an access hole in the skid plate anyway. It's not that much work to remove the skid plate for an oil change every 5,000 miles.
