Re: FJ Alignment Specs

I'm glad someone here has decided to post up alignment specs.

I have had an alignment issue (VSC and VSC Trac lights illuminated) since two weekends ago and spent all day at a dealer this past weekend only to hear them say, "We can't align your FJ. It's really out of alignment and you should go to a tire specialist." They still can't diagnose my overheating issue, but that's another thread.
Unnamed dealer actually had my FJ for 5 hours and did absolutely nothing to it but add brake fluid! And then proceded to tell me that fixed the VSC lights! The VSC lights reset after you turn the ignition off and on again. You actually have to drive a few hundred yards to get them to come back on. And they did about two blocks from the dealer. What a waste of a day!

Went across the intersection to Kauffman Tire to get an alignment from them. They said, we don't have the specs and you have a modified suspension, so we can't do it either. W-T-F!!!

So I called another dealer, who I know has done an alignment for a buddy of mine's FJ after he tweaked his alignment on a trail. They heard my long story and promised me I would get to talk to an actual technician before leaving the keys.

I dropped it off at another dealer this AM, so we'll see. The tech didn't sound too optismistic about the overheating issue since it hasn't been duplicated yet in a garage, but seems to think they can handle the alignment/VSC lights without a problem. I didn't have the specs above in hand, but I now have them when they call with the status report later today.

Thanks again for this thread and all who have contributed to it.

I know the feeling. I hate even going to the dealer for issues. Seems like they have your vehicle for 5 minutes and find nothing or 5 hours and find nothing. I just think a lot of the technicians could care less. I think if it's anything that presents a problem they try to push it away.

Of course this is the way it is in every job. You have good ones and bad ones. Unfortunately I seem to find the ones that don't wanna do anything.

The specs should help with the alignment.
