Never had an issue with Dynamat, but you always want to use a roller, and it's preferable to do it on a warm day, it will make the dynamat easier to apply.

Also I think 100SQ ft is plenty, but you can use an additional bulk pack if you want. Some people will do multiple layers especially on the back area if they do bass.
