Top three in my book:
Another truck. Always try to go out in pairs, preferably with someone who has some off road experience.
Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back home. (plan for an extra 4 hrs to winch your buddy out, change the tire etc.)
Always take a gallon of drinking water with you. You or the truck can use that, and both of you when you need it will not go long with out it.
Extras: Pick up some MRE’s to just keep stashed in your truck. When you get hungry enough the tast outstanding. (NOTE: I usually end up handing them out to some dude that did not have anything to eat and 5hrs into fixing his truck on the trail)
