I have just installed the mmc 6500's and they are awesome speaker if the install is done "well"...... by the way - PUT THE TWEETS IN THE DOOR (drill the hole it's worth it)- **it WILL sound much better than putting them in the dash.... have the tweets close to the polk mid bass driver....
My experience has led me to believe a few things.
#1. the crossovers are too big.
#2. DO NOT MOUNT THEM IN THE DOORS due to moisture + if you need to get to them for whatever reason (i.e., adjusting crossover points, re-doing wiring, etc....)
I love these speakers and have mounted the huge crossovers under the dash on the drivers side and in the kick panel on the passenger side.
I have been going crazy because I am getting interference through the crossovers.... (very low level noise + alt whine even when the head unit + amp is off!) I think that these crossovers are prone to exterior noises....
With that being said putting them in the doors could be good for that reason because they would be away from external sources of noise....
*Experiment with crossover placement when your car is running (+ put the amp gains very high when you experiment)
Hope I have helped : )
AND make sure you amp these speakers! THEY LOVE POWER! MIN 100 watts per channel....
please tell me if you get any noise that i was talking about above, I am curious to know since I do not know anyone else who has installed these in their FJ.

I will be installing a set of POLK 6.5" mmc6500 component speakers in my doors with the tweeters in the dash. My question is will it be okay to locate the crossovers for the front speakers in the rear of the FJ? I want to use the storage cubby in the passenger side of the back (where the stock sub would be in some FJs). Will performance suffer if the crossovers are that far away?
My Infinity amp and Polk sub are also located in the back.
Thanks for your help.
