Just a note - a 12 inch circle has an approximate area (flat) of 113.04 square inches - two 10 inch circles have an area of approximately 157 square inches. Since a speaker is a cone, the 2 10 inch subs will actually provide a little more area than this difference shows. I really do not know why some of you are stuck on using the single 12-inch sub as you are not going to be able to move as much air as the two 10-inch sub option.

Honestly folks - the JL w-1s available as the base speaker from WickedCAS - wired to a 2 Ohm load with a good 400 watt amp will satisfy 90%+ of you. I have been building systems for 25+ years and unless you want to set-off car alarms for fun (which I have done in previous systems) you should be happy with two 10s and a decent amp.
