Doc, why did you mount your cb antenna to arb opposed to bandi mount?
I'd like to give you some high tech answer involving optimized SWR and a scientific experiment that detected the distance I can transmit. The fact is, though, I had a "Bandi mount" in hand and a pre-existing hole in the ARB bumper. The pre-existing hole was an easier shot, plus it was a no-brainer wire run without having to pull any interior panels. I've had to pull interior panels several times for other things, and I went with the easier shot.

Having placed it there, I have to say I'm not displeased. I can actually "drive" the thing through tight spaces. I'm never surprised about it catching because I can see it. Just yesterday I was blazing trail up a creek where I obviously had no business taking a full sized vehicle. The rock crawl on the ground was perfect, but the overhead brush was low enough to make ATV'ers duck. I pruned quite a few branches (one made it all the way home, locked into my roof rack mounted Hi-Lift) and I had no problem picking the line to keep my antenna out of the worst of it. Had it been in the back, I'd have been guessing.

As it is, I have no problem with SWR. I do have the concern, however, that my transmission distance is limited, but it's never been a noticeable problem for wheeling in groups. Some day I'll test it on a one mile line-of-sight hilltop and make sure.
