I figured that but ya never know. Do, you get much rain where your located? If u do then keep the ends sprayed with some silicone so rust doesnt form. Definitely a nice product i've been happy with mine so far.
I'm in SoCal so it doesn't rain too much here but that's a good tip to remember. Thanks.

so now that the weaker tie rod end has been replaced.. where do you figure the next break will be?
I am hoping not to break anything. I have wheeled the crap out of my rig for 2 years solid (every weekend) so even the expensive aftermarket parts eventually wear out. My Total Chaos uniballs needed replacement, cv's were making loud noises even in 2 wheel drive so they were replaced. Put on a set of used tie rods to find they had play in them just like my worn ones did, so HD tie rods were a good answer for me. The steering rack seems strong enough to handle the HD tie rods, although I was told by my alignment guy that I should consider replacing the bushings on the steering rack (worn).
I would say the spindle is the weakest link, but add the weld on gussetts and you should be good. Something is always going to give somewhere with enough force.......but cheap insurance is better than none.

Did you bend or break a tie rod?

How many people have actually bent or broken an FJ tie rod?
I have heard of quite a few people breaking them on the trail (Tacoma's too)..........these will not break. With 35" tires and 4.56 gears those oem's just don't look like they're up for the challenge.

So that replaces the inner tie rod as well?

Yes, it's the entire tie rod assembly. Replaces the inner and outer joints along with the shaft in between.

With my friend, we put it back straight almost and put it back on the truck!!!

I was far from home, and i drive with it at max 30MPH...We were very careful! It cost a lot at the dealer but some part pas on warranty! A big bill!

this month i will install those new tie rod end

So with the gussets, can you use the anti-sway bar? That seems to be a very practical place to reinforce without damage to something else.

As for the links, yes they wouldn't break, but your forcing a break to the more expensive steering rack. Things are designed a certain way for a reason. The weak link should be cheap and easy to fix. If nothing has give, something major is likely to break. Thats why things are made to be replaced...to allow movement...to have give...to break first.

I am not convinced this is worth doing just yet.

Angry Re: All Pro Heavy Duty Tie Rods

My steering rack is leaking. The thin rubber boots both ripped and the supplied zip-ties came off. I'm guessing dirt and water got in and ruined the seals. This is just from daily driving. The only off-road I have done was at last years FJ Summit with them on.

Toyota said they don't fix just replace. Steering rack $980 install $300. I found a place that said they can fix it for $335. I'm also going to try using metal straps to hold on shock boots in place of the supplied All-Pro boots. They are much thicker.
