OMG I got an answer!! Thanks TCao. rep to you. You beat AllPro (I emailed them). My only concern about Demello is that from what I've read, it takes over a month to get them... But, I am also not looking forward to painting the AllPros myself. ugh. decisions.

I was at Jason's shop today and I think he may have some in stock for the FJ. Did not see any that were powder coated already. You have better luck calling Jason or Jack at 951.735.4417 (DeMello).
Can someone please give me a comparison on how far these stick out from the frame, All-Pro vs Demello? thank you!!
Does anyone own the Stubbs sliders?
Haven't seen the Demellos up close, so can't compare, but the All Pros on my truck stick out enough from the body that I use them all the time getting in or standing on to adjust stuff on the roof (when I don't climb up).
Took a week to get after I ordered (all the way to Lon Gisland).
They weren't cheap, then I had them powder coated (which also wasn't cheap), but I am very happy with the choice and would pick them again. Very well built, saved me on the rocks (no lift yet) and the way it kicks out in the back saved me on a tree in a narrow passage once.
Haven't seen the Stubbs, but they look remarkably like the All Pros (installed).
Lots of rock rails to choose from, not quite sure what I want. I am leaning towards OEM because they look like they are ready to go and nothing more to do than install and go. I don't want to have to pay for S&H and then for powder coating. Gresham parts dude said he could get next day delivery on them if I wanted to order them. They look really strong. I do like the idea of the rails you can step on, but wonder about the strength. Because they have more of a step area does that make them weaker?

Some things are worth the wait. Besides I have seen rattle can and professional paint jobs on the DOs and compared that to my powder coat from them. I'll take the powder coat every time. It gives them a good look and some texture so I can use it as a step. Others have agreed. If you really want I could go and measure my DOs for you.

Lab_guy, that would be GREAT, if you wouldn't mind!! I would very much appreciate the DO measurement... And you're right, I have waited months already wanting sliders, so another month or so won't kill me.
i was wondering whats the difference between sliders and sidesteps? are the smittybilt suresteps any good?
Sliders: Designed to take the weight of the vehicle and to "slide" over obstacles and protect your rocker panels. Usually constructed of very sturdy steel construction and some kind of protective coating(powder coat, auto paint, rattle can mist, etc)
Hybrid sliders: same as sliders but may protrude from the vehicle a bit to double as a step
sidesteps: designed to take the weight of a passenger stepping into the vehicle and offers no discernible protection to the vehicle. May actually be ripped from vehicle or crushed and pinned to the FJ causing the door to not open if used like a slider. Tube steps ARE NOT sliders. Tube steps are as strong as bolting aluminum pop cans to your truck as sliders.
Synopsis: If you off road get sliders. If you do not off road nor will you the option of steps or sliders is there. I personally off road and have sliders that protect my truck from rocks, ruts, and shopping carts.

THANK YOU!
The sliders extend 4" from the the rocker panel (not measured from frame). Here are a few pics. One is of the slider up close. One of the door open to show clearance. And one with my size 11s using the slider as a step to reach the roof.
Excuse the mud, it has been raining for a few days thus the delay in pics.
