Adjustable Winchline Chafe/UV Guard

Wanted to share a little "mod" that cost me a whopping $3.85 usd that actually turn out to be a good move on my part...
Winchline synthetic lines uses a coarse 1" nylon climbing runner with open ends to which they use as a heat guard. Figured that it would also work on the hook end to prevent against chafing and UV degradation.
Ran by REI and bought 10 feet of 1" runner and ran the winch line through it. Voila! a chafe guard that you can move wherever you please on the line, and when wrapped around the spool (for storage) further protects your investment from evil UV rays!

Total time with materials: 10 minutes.
Cost: you'll spend more in gas/shipping than in materials.
Cool factor: 10 baby!
You can thank me later...

I take it you have a winch line. com
good chioce of line
I got thier line and bought a winchline recovery strap also, nice strap
I like your quick fix for the chafe guard, but let me point out
the chafe guards are normally much heavier than the heat guards.
the chafe guard from winchline is a nice guard
also, the safety thimble they have is killer, I suggest getting one

Thanks, and yes I already know that most chafe guards are MUCH thicker materials. Figured for the $2-4 range this was a good way to protect from UV more than anything else. Secondarily it protects from the chafing involved while storing your hook.
Already got the safety thimble, and yes again its nice. VERY impressed with this company (though it took 3 attempts for them to get my order correct).
