Used lifts & other mods

Would you ever drop your hard earned money on used suspension parts?

Or is it just better to save the money and buy brand new

NO, because I don't know what bad things the old owner taught it!

Real answer, NO you don't know how it was treated. It may have been abused.

Re: Used lifts & other mods

For mechanical parts I would save my money and buy new, then you know what your are getting and you will be the only one using/abusing the parts.

For cosmetic items, I have no problem buying used. It either looks good or it doesn't and will have no effect on the performance of your vehicle.

Re: Used lifts & other mods

Thats what I thought but being new I wanted to check.

I buy used mtb suspension parts most of the time. Trucks weigh and cost more though!

Maybe - If I were looking for a suspension lift and one of the forum members started with an OME and then upgraded to an adjustable I probably would have purchased it.

Re: Used lifts & other mods

If you can find some parts that have been swapped out when someone "upgraded" then go for it....many times (especially with a new model like th FJ) the owner put the (now used) parts on until something newer and cooler came along...

Re: Used lifts & other mods

Interesting topic. Gives me a little perspective as to the reason why I haven't been able to move my OME 885 front springs that were on my FJ for about 1500 miles.
