Talking Richard Stubbs Slider's... your opinion?

Richard has a new FJC Slider version about to be released that from a pure function standpoint offers the best 4WD protection for use on the most difficult trails out there. This design has proven itself very successful over the years on Taco's, 4Runners, Land Cruisers, etc. I really like the fact that if I was sliding along side a large boulder that the rock would almost be guaranteed to hit my rear tire with the new Rubicon slider. The Ultimate SKO and 95% of the other sliders on the market today may possibly hit the inside edge of the rear quarter panel simply because of their design. The percentage chance that I would be in that situation is very slim, but it is a possibility. I really like the fact that the rear kick out is angled back forcing the rock to the tire instead of the body, very nice! Compare the Rubicon design to say the Bent-up or Trail-Gear sliders which look great, but out on the trail may guide the rock right into the body for some major carnage!

FJ Sliders

I ordered ($389.00 + shipping) his original FJ slider design which was modeled after his "Ultimate SKO" version. The ONLY reason I didn't choose his new "Rubicon" slider was because I have an 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son who would probably end up with bruised shins due to the square bar angle involved getting in and out of the back seat.

The Ulitmate SKO is the round kickout and Rubicon is the square kickout version. Yes there are four connection points to be bolted to the FJ frame on the Ultimate SKO sliders (right side in pic), the one pictured I believe is for a Taco. It's what Richard had available for a comparision shot...

What version do you like best?

I plan on posting the complete installation (from paint to fit & in action) of my new Stubbs Ultimate SKO FJC sliders in a week or so...

If anyone bumps the sharply angled one with their shins, there will be one unhappy person. The rounded one seems to be more parking lot friendly.

If the kickout is that far out, I'd go with round

The square one looks pretty cool. But I'd probably go with the rounded one.

Rounded one. The square one IS different, but I would like to keep the skin on my shins for as long as I can.

You know what?... send me a set of both because I am really a "hands on" kinda person and for an accurate opinion, its what I would need...

Thanks in advance!

Re: Richard Stubbs Slider's... your opinion?

I have the first round set that Richard did and they are SUPERB!

Fit was perfect. Install was hold them in place, insert bolts, tighten, and you're on your way...

Just have to loosen the brake cables to slip the sliders under them....

five stars out of five from me! And Richard's products have THE rep for doing what they are designed for....
