Which is the better skid plate?

I have be considering the Bud Built skids, but just saw the Man-A-Fre ones.

Edit: Just had the All-Phase skid brought to my attention. They also make a diff skid....

Who has purchased these? Post your install photos, I would like to see the difference.

I am leaning towards the Man-A-Fre ones since there are less expensive, have more holes for heat to escape, and look a little better designed. I will say, it is very hard to ascertain build quality from pictures, so those that have actually installed these would know best. Share your knowledge......

Re: Which is the better skid plate?

Looks like the Man-A-Fre ones extend back a little farther (all the way to the gas tank). I need to see the front of the skid to make a full determination.

The All-Phase looks nice also...three strong contenders!

Re: Which is the better skid plate?

You can look at my Budbuilts in person when they get here and I have them installed (but you already knew that).

Re: Which is the better skid plate?

wonder how much heat buildup these will have....

I remember reading how the FJ Trail Team with their skids has their A/C on FULL and still feel hot inside the cab....

Also, the stock skids address 'venting' the front diff...wonder if the aftermarket skids deal with that....

There must be a reason Toyota engineered their stock skids to re-route airflow directly toward the front diff.

Re: Which is the better skid plate?

That's a pretty good point A_Andy. Something to consider. I would love to know the answer, can a tough skid plate be developed that also maximises cooling?
