Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

when the rear locker is engaged or stay solid?

On mine it is blinking when turned on, does this sound correct? Just used it today for the first time in a while and it was blinking, but for some reason I thought it stayed solid when I used it before.

Regards,
Alphonse

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

It stays solid when locked, and only works in low range BTW....were you in 4HI?

If it's flashing, it means it's not engaged at all.

If you were in 4Lo, you probably need to be stopped (or moving very slowly) for it to engage.

On mine, it blinks until they engage - then solid until I turn it off.

Will blink until it is fully engaged, then it will stay solid. Sometimes takes a minute, usually helps to go forward or back up a little to help engage it.

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

I did drive foward, but only maybe 10 ft and then tried backing up that same 10 ft. I was in 4 low but maybe I just didn't give it enough time to fully engage or didn't drive far enough.

But now I am wondering, if you are in a jam and decide to engage it to pull out, how the heck are you going to drive around to engage it if you are already stuck? Or is it required that you are smart enough to put it on before you get into said jam

Regards,
Alphonse

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

I believe it blinks if you also have the A-trac on. Sort of to let you know that only a-trac is working. I was playing around and think I saw that the other day.

edit

read through your list of mods and saw you did the a-trac hack. Dunno then.

I installed the a-trac switch, but didn't do the hack. But like I said the other day I was messin' about and engaged the a-trac button and rear locker and something was blinking. may have been the a-trac since it was on but overridden by the rear locker come to think about it. that makes more sense.

Has it always blinked or just done so since the mod?

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

It will not engage while the vehicle is moving! blinking means no! so complete stop to activate. it is a safety feature so nothing breaks! so you have to turn it off and then on again after coming to a complete stop.

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

Well I played around with it some more and regardless of moving foward, reversing, or stopped it just seems to take some time to engage. While you are waiting it seems like an eternity but in reality it's likely 20 seconds or so.

And it's definitely working fine with the ATRAC system. I found some nice, very loosely packed gravel piles about a block from my work at an abandoned construction site and had some fun at lunch today

Regards,
Alphonse

Re: Does the Rear Locker Dash indicator Blink...

Just like putting the vehicle in 4 WD (for us with an auto) always engage the locker before you are stuck, or in a jam, if at all possible.
