Re: Build Your Own C02 Tire Inflator

gosh, did mine even cheaper
use a helium regulator preset to 50 pounds
that way I have no gauges to break off
and did not buy the tank, use the exchange program at the welding store
using a 20 pound bottle
regulator, hose, tire fitting were 50 bucks
and a 50 dollar deposit on the bottle ( deposit was given 15 years ago so it may have gone up)
I have been running this 100 dollaR rig for years now
cost to fill up 15 bucks, and seeing how they own the bottle, there is no waiting, I walk up, hand them the bottle with 15 smackers and they give me a filled one. out the door in 2 minutes

Re: Build Your Own C02 Tire Inflator

Thanks a bunch, I am all over it!! Approx what size is a 10# tank and weight? I have a little 12v compressor now for airing up, this, I am sure, is quicker but will it be smaller too?

Could someone recommend a couple places in so cal. I went to air gas, and those guys charged me 25 bucks. I walked out of there a little sore in the rear.

Re: Build Your Own C02 Tire Inflator

After looking on ebay, it seems that most of the people sell it for home brew stuff, could we go to our own local brew pplace and get it without the shipping costs?

Yes. In fact that is the same kind of regulator I used. Just take off the 1/4" flare fitting and a standard air hose will screw back in.

Can the bottle be painted or would we have to powder coat it?
Yes it can be painted. I will probably paint mine this weekend.

Strike,
I'm not sure if you filled your tank up yet. But here address and contact info of a good place in town not to far from you.

Desert Industrial Gas Co
4201 Production Ct
Las Vegas, NV 89115 - 0184

(702) 651-1311

It was $10 to fill up my 15# Powertank.
I believe it $10 bucks for any size, you pay for the service not the gas.
Thanks Carl. I'll have to hit them up tommorow. I will also report how my setup does.

I used to use a small air compressor with a one gallon tank. Even starting with the tank filled up it took a good 15-20 minutes to air up. I wanted to air up quicker but I wasn't willing to pay alot of money for it. So, I decided to make my own c02 setup.

A 10lb tank is about 24" x 6" diameter and weighs about 26lb or so full.
