Re: for all you off roaders out there..question?

If you stick with the easy trails, no big deal. As you start wheeling, you will quickly develop a confidence level in the FJ's abilities.

And since it is your vehicle and your payments, there is no shame in not doing what you aren't comfortable with. Just because someone jumps into a 3 foot deep mudhole doesn't mean you have to do it. Or you don't have to do any hill climbs just because the guy in the modified Tacoma thinks you should follow him.

Try it out, see how well you like it and you will quickly learn to appreciate the vehicle's capabilities.

And if you don't want to decorate your vehicle with "forest pinstriping", don't.

Re: for all you off roaders out there..question?

I would suggest some Rock Rails tho for in the mountains...

They add allot of confidence for you trailing adventures...

But Paragon and Rausch Creek PA Are GREAT Places to learn and have FUN !!!

Re: for all you off roaders out there..question?

I would suggest two basic things to get the most out of your FJ while staying away from major damage: good set of tires (all-terrains like BFG AT KO) and a pair of rock sliders.

Re: for all you off roaders out there..question?

Here's my 2 cents . I have been to Raush and Paragon and both are great places to go wheeling . I am newbie aswell and these where my first 4x4 trips. I would only recomend green 1 and 2 trails for your fist couple of trips .You will have a better time with alot less strees . Meet some people that you trust and feel comfortable with. Try and go with another FJ , you won't feel so lonely . And remember to go at your own pace don't try and keep up if you don't feel comfortable. Most of all have fun and enjoy. My fj is also stock and i have yet to get stuck . I did how ever add rock rails as Bandi said they will give you a better peace of mind.

Before long you might be asking those questions about tires, lift, and other modifications. Just enjoy your vehicle and the peace of mind that if you really want to get somewhere, your vehicle in stock condition can almost guarantee that you will make it there.

I Know Yoda Did his First Ride w/o Rock Sliders and on the stock tires (He went everywhere everyone else did without a body bump at all - But he was very very Careful !!!)... So You should be Just Fine cause you have the OEM Sliders already... I also Had stock tires and OEM Sliders on my 1st trip...

You will be amazed on you FJC capabilities !!!

Re: for all you off roaders out there..question?

You're going to love it! I am a nubie at this too, but I was really surprised at how fast I became comfortable going up and over stuff I would have thought I would have stayed away from. Don't get in over your head, but I predict that you will start itching for the harder stuff pretty quick. I did and I'm about as nerdy/anxious/anal/risk averse as they come.
