Question for Trail-Gear slider users

For those of you who bought Trail-Gear sliders, are you happy with their quality and do you find that they protect your FJ from car door dings? Also, does the $299 price include shipping? Do they impede getting in and out of the FJ?

Shipping included, not sure yet about the door dings, but they stick farther than stock ruuing boards. Very good quality.

Re: Question for Trail-Gear slider users

Remember, car doors are "rounded", so even with the sliders sticking out, they will most likely get you... Shopping carts, however...

Re: Question for Trail-Gear slider users

INSANELY well made. Perfect fit. These are by FAR the finest cost-benefit mod you can really do for the FJ. They stick out a hair more than others, but also afford more protection for runaway doors, etc than the others. Stick out just enough to be used as a side step as well. This does make it so that occasionally your pant leg will rub it upon getting out, but that's easily resolved by again using it as a step! The $299 includes the shipping to your door.

Re: Question for Trail-Gear slider users

I have found success protecting me from car doors. I came back to my rig one time and saw a little scratch in the white paint, looked over and sure enough the little car next to me had a white spot on his door.

They do stick out farther than I expected, takes some getting used to getting in and out, I am tall so using them as steps makes me feel like I am getting in a sports car, but I can step over them. My g/f however got the back of her legs scratched up from the grip tape I put on, until I showed her how to step out. But I do not regret getting them. I agree for the price, best and most practical mod out there. Plus unlike running boards you can paint them snazzy white!

Re: Question for Trail-Gear slider users

They had a special on the website that covered the shipping for a while. and yes they do stick out a little further than I suspected. So getting in and out is a little tricky, but it makes it a lot easier to throw the bike on the roof.

gotta use them as a step when they are dirty, otherwise probably won't matter

Re: Question for Trail-Gear slider users

if you park the car on the side of a passenger car, it will protect againts the front door, however, nothing will protect against rear doors w/ "I don't care about other ppl's car owners". Price wise, the price includes shipping which is best deal I've seen, and the quality is also very good. Just make sure to spray paint them yourself, or power coat etc before the installation. FYI, I'm pretty new to this stuff and I was able to do it myself.

Shipping with the $299 has always been the deal (to my recollection).
