Just to add to the Jeep Jamboree Discussion--I was recently reading about these events and found that many (most?) of them have nothing to do with off-road exercises and have everything to do with marketing the jeep name, usually at outdoor activities such as snowboarding, mountainbiking events, etc.
That definitely wasn't a Jamboree... a Jamboree is basically 2 days of trail riding at various levels of difficulty, with a big dinner on Saturday and Sunday night. There are a few vendors who come along to hock their wares, but it's very tasteful. The local kids set up a charity car wash to get the mud off of everyone's rides (and it was needed).

I don't have the Jeep anymore, traded it for a Honda Pilot. That's my family rig and we're keeping that one, but Daddy needs a new rig and it will be an FJ. I'm sure I'll see some of you at Toyota club events, even if they don't get the upgrade to "Jamboree" status.

I for one am all for any of the organized events we can get as Toyota owners. I grew up in FJ40s and FJ45s and apprceiate TLCA, but I will probably turn to my local club(s) for events.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Toyota FJ and Land Cruiser went into production in the early 70's. The Hummer was intruduced by GM in the early 90's. So who's the OG stomper?

Wow, no. The Land Cruiser (FJ25) first came to the states in 1957. Replaced by the FJ40, joined by the FJ45, FJ55, FJ60. Final model year for the '40 was 1984. The 60 series were in production until '90, followed by the FJ80, FZJ80 and UZJ100 (the current Land Cruiser)

Re: FJC Drivers Can learn From Hummer Drivers

I REALLY want to make it to Moab the second weekend of May to meet the trail team and maybe wheel my Taco a little bit before heading on to Colorado. I am interested in learning the right way to wheel. I have been wheeling every weekend since I got it and I prefer to wheel with patient, experienced folks. It's the best way to learn. If you're only playing with newby's it's like virgin sex... neither know's what they're doing.....

That being said, I was actually praised for making a pretty rugged maneuver last weekend so my hopes are high and I am trying to stay grounded. That's the hard thing to do with these new Yota's. They are so badass they can give you a false sense of ability really easily.
