There were apparently some issues with a few customers with the MAF drain hole not lining up well (probably due to manufacturing tolerances from Toyota). I believe MAF has done a slight mod on the next batch to make sure it lines up well for everyone. That's the good news.

The bad news is that MAF is out of stock and due to a move for them it will probably be "a month or two" before they have more.

Too bad, I would have pulled the trigger on their skids today if they had any to sell me. I did buy their sliders though. A little more $$$ but their slider design looks excellent and the wides will offer at least some toe/heel room for getting in and out of a lifted FJ while not having huge open spaces for rocks to grab hold like many of their competitors.

Re: Complete skid plates comparison

I have updated the comparison list to include weight for both the All Pro and BudBuild products. I have not found any pricing or more details on the ASFIR skids so I will wait until the info is available and will then add them to the list.

Re: Complete skid plates comparison

Does anyone know if the price of the Man-A-Fre skids is accurate. Im wondering if the forum gets a discount in comparison to what is on their site. $599 on here and $670 on their site.

I just looked up the invoice on mine...They were $750.00 for the whole set shipped to me (in Florida)...They were $599.00...I just looked at the shipping invoice and it's like $151.00 for shipping to me...BTW, here are what the shipping weights were (least I think I they said this, I installed them this past weekend)...

Front skid -45 lbs.
Transmission skid-32 lbs.
Transfer skid -22 lbs.
x-member -19 lbs.

These numbers are off by 1-2 lbs. each...So, the complete MAF skid set weighs right around 120 lbs. probably a lil' closer to 130 lbs....But not any heavier than that...

Trying figure out the English pound to dollar conversion, and it looks like the ASFIR full skid setup is close to $1500 US dollars. Not knocking this at all, just wondering if the price is right for aluminum skids.

Does anyone here have experience with aluminum skids?

Re: Complete skid plates comparison

Just the aluminum OEM one and it surrendered to the first rock it met. (Must have been French aluminum ) ASFIR is probably better, but I can't see aluminum holding up to any kind of hard abuse. I would thing a rock would dig into the aluminum instead of sliding along it like it would with steel.

No facts.. just opinions.
