G'day,
The installation shop was supposed to be taking photo's of the instal procedure, including the inside of the fender etc ... with the plumbing.
Unfortunately they "forgot" or will not give me copies - so please accept my apologies for not being to supply the pixs as I had hoped for.
I can advise to following however.
1. Painting the Snorkel. Yes I painted it ...

, VB of course. Took the Snorkel to a mate's paint shop and got it match to VB. They did have trouble getting the paint to stick to the plastic. Even using the latest super duper plastic sticky paints ... it kept bubbling. So they finally went old school, and baked the snorkel for 30 minutes, to release the polymers etc ... and get the air pockets out of it. then painted it in a solid colour without clear top coat. End result is very good... IMHO
2. Fitting the snorkel wasn't difficult, after all its their product ... however due to the aftermarket Airaid CAI, we did have to sleeve the snorkel to the airbox. If you are running an OEM airbox, then you would not have to do this, it will fit straight over the air intake to the airbox...
3. After a few days, and a few 100 miles, my observations are as follows:
No difference in MPG
No difference in power
No difference RPM
No real noise increase, either as whistle or air being rammed into the airbox.
The only thing I have really noticed, is the air pressure coming in the open window when driving is much much less. We all know and feel the air force that our FJ's create with an open window ... well due to the placement of the snorkel body, the airflow is sufficiently disrupted that no longer smacks you in the head.
When I get some free time ... I'll pull off the black surround/cover and open up the fender from above and take some photo's of the inner plumbing...
And finally here are a few pictures from different angles to show the asthetics
of the TJM snorkel.
Cheers
Baz
