Agreed, and air at the height of this design is bound to be cleaner than that being drawn beside the tire, in my mind.

Very true, but it is a compromise. And they do have the extension, as long as it isn't prolonged highway/road speeds.

what does the under hood plumbing look like?
Specifically:
How does this tie into the OEM air box? Or does it come with a replacement?
How does it route through the cowl? Are holes needing to be cut?
