So as some of you remember, River Raider Off Road was looking for a FJC "Victim" to put their Expedition style snorkel on.
Well here is what is currently in the works. I'm not exactly sure on the routing of the intake from snorkel to air box, but I do know they are plugging off the OEM intake and tapping into the stock air box with a new inlet. The line is partially visible under the cowl in one picture and enters the engine compartment from the inner-side of the hood hinge.
Like I said this is still in the works and as they move along they have been feeding pictures and info, so as always be patient and more will come...
River Raider Off Road also said they plan to have this design available next month.

YES! I'm glad I waited on a snorkel! I like the design a lot! I just have the same concern as shack though. Do drivers with the "normal" snorkel that goes to the roof ever get water up to the hood? Because then this one wouldn't be as capable as the normal length. It might be cool to extend it (look weird?) for rare runs where it gets deep?
Might have to rearrange my Christmas list!

Lots to go!
I know they have an extension piece for the JK set-up so I'm guessing they will offer it for this as well. I will ask next time I talk with them. As for water higher than the hood, from experience... you might have more problems electrically than air intake wise. You can check out their site to see the JK version: http://www.riverraider.com/store/JK-Expedition-Snorkel

1. The top of this snorkel(upside down 'bell housing') seems close to the windshield. Would it make replacing windshields the harder(who cares?)? If the bell housing was hit by something(branch, etc) could it push it into the windshield and thus crack it?
2. How easy would it be for malfactors to drop something into my air intake being so low? Likely easy enough I suppose -perhaps there is a "trap" inside?? Then again, this would be an issue with ANY snorkel.
3. Are they going to offer a polished black top to the bell housing other than the grainy one I see on yours at the moment? or better-All black metal?
4. So the antenna spot has to be relocated? Why not move the snorkel in one hole toward center? Sure the passenger side view is partially obstructed, but might sit better(didnt the JK have it this way?)...or is there something in the way in that hole/gap?
5. Will they come up with a small top to this thing that is not so bulky...a tad slimmer?
BTW-Nice placement of the snorkel...allows for future removal and just the replacement of a panel...cool!
Cheers,
And great work by this team!!!
