FJ rules the sand dunes

Petersen's 4X4 of the Year report stated the FJ ruled the sand dunes...in stock tires no less. Can someone smart tell me what makes the FJ so formidable in those conditions compared to other vehicles?

i'd use the at for dunes.

since you can leave it in 2wd--the preferred setting for sand.

anyway, any light, powerful truck does well.

the taco, for example.

I agree. The two wheel drive light powerful FJ is a strong on the sand. Looks good there too.

Re: FJ rules the sand dunes

Wheelin down in South Padre Island Tx .... it freakin rules in the dune... then again it could be my skills ....

i had a 2003 dodge 1500 4 door with a 5.9 , not once did i get stuck... it rocked in the sand too but it also was very thirsty and sucked down the gas at 9 mpg

but i do agree that all small truck/SUVs do extremely well in sand... pretty much float over it
