I just spoke with Toyota Corportate! They told me that it will not be fixed. They even told me that it wasn't an option, I had to get them to look at pg. 19 on Issue 2 where it states it will be available on all new vehicles. After two technitions and almost an hour on the phone I was told that is how my vehicle was purchased and there would be no modifications!!!!

Well I called thats one, now we need 50,000 more people to call!

1800-331-4331 Ext. 6

Please call them, I would have to believe that if 50,000 people phoned in they would have to do something about it.
I called was on 10 min. and they saif "hey, well file a complaint number but were not going to do anything about it, it was a upgrade not ava. too you. ever." basically sorry charlie you aint getting $hit and we dont care, this really pi$$es me off that Toyota could care less about all of us that took the plunge and went with a 1st year model early. Please others call and file a complaint and get a complaint number, if enuff people complain maybe we wont get screwed.

Just got off the phone with Toyota. Same story.....no fix planned...I told my C.S. Rep to please note my complaint and to expect many more calls from disappointed FJC owners. It's seems she has already received several calls today. Call, call, call!

Re: Called Toyota on ATRAC Rear Locker Upgrade, here's what they said...

The best thing to do is someone buy a domain name and give it a name pertaining to this, and put up a webpage with links and text explaining that the first 50K FJ did not have it, now the new ones do, and that we want it fixed.

I have seen this done before where someone who has been screwed over by an auto maker that built a webpage, and it really pissed of the auto maker.

I like that idea since I don't really want to spend an hour listening to static-y 90s pop music. You sure you can do that?

I can confirm the existence of one such site. It pertained to the Ford 4.2 V6 faulty lower intake manifold gaskets that allowed coolant to seep past and fill the cylinders with coolant. Hydrolock-O-Rama.

The guys name was Aj Ragno, and his site was something like leakingfords.com Ford did nothing for the Bajillion POS 4.2's from 97-99 though.

50k FJ units that require a simple reflash shouldn't break the bank though, if that's all it requires.

You might check & see if "OhWhatAFeelingMyA$$Hurts.com" is available.

Re: Called Toyota on ATRAC Rear Locker Upgrade, here's what they said...

Ok..call me stupid...but where is the advantage to having the locker and the A-Trac functioning at the same time? When the locker is functioning the rear axle is locked and power is being sent to both wheels equally and they have to turn at the same rate. If one slows down so doesn't the other one. As I understand A-Trac it senses asymetrical speed between the two wheels and applies the brakes to the spinning wheel which sends power to the wheel that has traction. Is this possible with the rear end locked as they would both be turning at the same speed.

I can see it would be an advantage for the front wheels which aren't locked. Is that where the advantage is?

Am I missing something?

Yea I run a phone sales team for a living, and the top salesman in the company, this is a slow time, I can just assign a few guys to do my bidding. once I had a collections company collecting on me on a false claim, so I had 20 people call them all day after they got about 200+ calls they took off the list.
But to tell you the truth the call wait and call wasnt that long.

Bah....damn Toyota. As soon as they found out I was calling from Canada, they told me I would have to call Toyota Canada about this.

If I do call Toyota Canada all I'll get from them is " I dunno...." and another survey in the mail.
