Re: New aluminum bumper from Body Armor.

Looks good, maybe someone could tell me how well the aluminum would hold up verses steel. I assume that this is considerably lighter than the steel bumpers and may be a good option for people not lifting their FJ.

They don't state the weight...that would be the competitive edge
against ARB.

I also wonder if it's a 'if we sell one, we'll build it' sort of deal. Because
the description says black powder-coat, but the one in the picture seems
to be either bare aluminum or grey.

What's more, the illustration looks a bit PhotoShop-ish to me.

AND the item doesn't appear on Body Armor's own web site!

Re: New aluminum bumper from Body Armor.

Well it should not rust. I just prefer steel when it comes to a bumper, but if you never hit anything then it should not be any problem. It looks sturdier than those alluminum bolt on bullbars that attach to the factory bumper. I've got the ARB and I'm happy with it.

I'd call Body Armor directly and ask them to email front and side
photographs of the bumper on the FJ they prototyped it on.

And how much it weighs.

And how many they've sold so far.

And if that number is 'none yet' then I'd ask to talk to the person
who owns the FJ with the prototype on it!

If you're an 'early adopter' there ought to be a price break.

Re: New aluminum bumper from Body Armor.

Central 4WD does this with a lot of stuff.
They have the Warn rear bumper on their site, yet Warn has not even released it yet, nor has it on their own website.

When I called Warn a few weeks back about their rear bumper, they were shocked that Central 4WD had it on their own site.

so you'd be placing an order and you'd be getting the bumper like 1 year later, so to speak. these vendors man, they just drive me nuts. this happened to me last year when i placed an order for the diecst model fj, way before the real one hit the market and i got stung. they had it on their website saying it was available and i lost my 79 dollars. never heard from them since.........bastards.

Re: New aluminum bumper from Body Armor.

Yes, that is why I called up Warn directly to confirm the rear one was out, which it was not.

They told me hopefully in January.
