Question 4x4 Problem??

I have a new FJ and I noticed
when I put it in 4 Lo, if I make
a full turn, the wheels almost feel
as if they lock up or are rubbing
against something...

Like I said, I am new to 4x4 and hope you can
help...

Original rims and tires...
no mods...

Thanks!

Re: 4x4 Problem??

Look up "binding" and you'll find your answers.

I'm not an expert but basically, you don't want to be in 4 wheel mode on solid ground, the binding is taking place because the wheels are unable to "slide"

There was a topic about this a while ago which had great information.

Try this topic as well:

Here is why part time 4WD should never be used on dry pavement

Re: 4x4 Problem??

Put it in the dirt before turning on 4-low if you are on the street it will sound like binding. Not a problem, wait til you hear the atrac turn on, you'll be scared.
