Added Skids & Rockers; Ride a bit sluggish

Okay, I got my skids and rockers on last night. I don't know their exact weight but packaged they weighed 350 lbs. Let's assume they weigh and a total of 300 lbs installed. Would this much weight affect the quality of the ride?

It drives a bit sluggish now. The steering seems a tad unresponsive and dull. I am wondering if the additional weight and the removal of some support braces may be causing this behavior change?

I have a stock suspension and nothing special?

Any thoughts, recommendations?

Thanks,

Jim

What exactly did you remove?

300 lbs of added weight equals ~7% more weight to the vehicle or two average sized adults to the vehicle. Yes, I would expect to notice the addition of the extra weight somewhat.

I have the All-Pro bumper & rock rails and BudBuilt skid plates and I don,t notice any difference in performance.

300 pounds equals three hot chicks.

pick them up and drive around.

i doubt you'll notice the ride quality being affected.

I removed the OEM skids and step rails. The OEM skids were very thin and light weight. I added the full MAF skids and sliders. I was thinking the same thing re: added weight.

I may have to enhance the front end possibly to counteract the additional weight. Just not sure what I would really want or afford to do...

I haven't noticed any different with the parking break. I don't think it came into play during the install of the skid plates or sliders.

What I wish I would have done was measure the before and after to see how much the new equipment weighed down front end, etc. Mayber Razor J can do that when he gets his - but I don't think he is stock anymore...

That's freaking hilarious. You're right, I don't think I would be complaining about the additional cargo...

So what do you think? Is a lift or suspensiion enhancement in the cards?
