Altrac switch install = guaranteed altrac?

I have read the threads and still cant say i am 100% sure if the switch actually gives you altrac as long as you have the rear locker. I have read that it plugs in and the light turns on but who has actually tested it and can confirm that the ECM for altrac is there and it actually functions with the rear locker in the new models.

Thanks for your help in advance

Re: Altrac switch install = guaranteed altrac?

I'd say that at least 3/4 of the board can confirm this. If you have installed the switch, have the rear locker, and you can't tell ATRAC is on, you should check your install because you did something wrong.

Testing ATRAC

1) Take your truck to a big pile of dirt at a construction site near you.
2) Pull up to said dirt and put truck in 4-LO
3) Press ATRAC button and watch little light go on
4) Pull one front tire up onto dirt and listen for what sounds like someone pounding on the underside of the truck.

Not to be a search nazi here...but really, try searching this, it's gotta be on here like, what, a thousand places?

Yea, what she says...it works on mine. Been tested, confirmed and used to get up climbs that others without had trouble with. Nice option for under $50.

[quote=k9crazy;290691]...what sounds like someone pounding on the underside of the truck.QUOTE]

No kidding, mine kicked in yesterday, pulling some hump in an Aviator out of chasis deep beach sand (showing off to his GF after a few on New Year's eve - didn't even have AWD! AND he was V lucky it was a low tide overnight) sounded exactly "like someone pounding on the underside of the truck" with a couple of hammers - I almost thought I'd busted something!!
