CO2 is as safe as a fire extinguisher in your car.
I'm not sweating this guy. I have a hard time finding any positive posts from the guy anyway. Any true wheeler knows about CO2 bottles installed in rigs and their reliability and a key tool in the offroading arsenal. Thanks for the reinforcement.
Airing down to wheel is a subject for another thread, it is an extremely usful method of gaining extra traction. Seeing how wheeling is all about traction, most whelers learn the ins and outs of airing down early in their wheeling days
Co2 tanks ar the best and most common way to air back up, I would venture to say close to 50 percent of experienced wheelers own a co2 tank of some sort and the number is growing. Mild wheelers usually do not have co2 or depend on those that do
Also it helps to reinflate flats
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is it illeagal to carry that in the passenger compartment? Link nitrous? Again sorry if this is a "flamable" question.
nope, you just have to have a dot approved regulator
co2 is not flamable, like stated, it is used to put out fires
the main problem is to find a way to tie it down
it's actually illegal to transport such a large bottle in your vehicle on city streets/highways unless you have a hazmat license and drive a specialized vehicle that can properly secure it.
mainly if the regulator shears off--as it's not legal to transport gas canisters unless the metal safety cap is in place.
co2 is inert, but the bottle will do serious damage if it's damaged in a wreck or a rollover.

i really can't answer that part, but if the canister is only installed when the vehicle is taken off road and transported with the safety cap only to off road trails i seriously doubt it'd be a problem.
and there's the issue of law enforcement.
i've seen dumbasses carry poorly secured acetylene canisters in their pickups in mississippi with no regard for what it can do.

I'll find the regulation on this. I hold a DOT and Hazmat (HAZOPER) certification. I have to placard vehicles, sign manifests (both haz and non-haz), etc. as part of my job. Let me get to my manuals and get facts on this subject (Might not be today).
I would like to know anyway, I admit when I am wrong
by the way, I carry mine in the cabin, never had a problem. never even thought about it until one day someone said on this forum it was illegal, so I checked and was told it was not.
however, I did not dig into the hazmat area
I think it would be good to know
Learning is a good thing
