My ARB bumper a wee bit crooked

It's not super obvious, but the gap between bumper and wheel well/body/mudguard on the driver side is about 3/4" and on the other side about 1/4". And looking from the front it looks like it might be just slightly lower on the driver side than on the passenger side. It's not hugely obvious.

Am wondering if this may be "normal" given variations of tolerances with Toyota or ARB. And if not, what might cause it.

I don't know if it was like this when it was installed or not. It could very well relate to my question of "How hard can you hit your FJ withour breaking it?". I had a couple incidents last week where I porpoised across some sand ruts.

CruiserLarry had a look at the bumper and the FJ and didn't seem concerned, nor did he see any immediate explanation. He even loosened the bolts holding the ARB on and didn't see any evidence that it had shifted.

Anyone know if this might just be normal? And if not, what might explain it if everything "looks" ok?

Mines not exact either, but you can't tell unless you get the tape out. If it bothers you adjust it.

Hmm, mine sounds more noticeable. Doesn't seem to be much adjustment you can do without adding a shim. And my main concern is just that the slight difference is a sign of something more serious, that I might have bent the frame when I hit those sand ruts (at least the part of the frame to which the bumper connects (the segment forward of the front wheel). Not sure how you tell, though. There's nothing definitely/obviously wrong, and I'm probably worrying about nothing. But, I was hoping ARB bumpers just sometimes naturally install with a bit more variation than maybe you're seeing.

There's some play in the bumper's position. You can keep the bolts snug, and then move it around a bit. A floor jack helps keep it up in the right place. Did you drill and install the "pinning" bolts after you torqued the main bolts? Got a photo?
