Re: First ROAD ARMOR FJ Bumper

How did you install the integrated winch on your bumper? I see you stated you had to get a mounting plate do you have more info on it? I was told by Road Armor that you can not install an integrated winch and just wanted to see if it was more complicated then it was worth.
Thanks

Re: First ROAD ARMOR FJ Bumper

My quick dilemma:
ARB: $1015+, 150lbs.

RA: $1106+, 153bls.

Quick, what should I do?

I just spoke to the folks at Road Armor. I like the bumper, though it is pricey. Currently, the wait time is 6-8 weeks and they have none to look at at their facility. I asked the cost for shipping from Eugene, Oregon to northern Calif. and was quoted approximately $125 if shipped to a residence. Then I said "I travel to Eugene on biz periodically. Can I pick it up there?" And the reply was "sure, no problem. Then there's just a $50 handling fee to wrap it and load it into your truck."

"Huh??? So the bumper is not $1,130 minimum, but $1,180?"

"That's correct."

Boy, if that's the attitude of the company I'll have to give it a bit more thought. It's not bad that they need $50 more for the bumper, but that they cheerfully allow local pickup of their expensive bumper, but discretely charge $50 to set the 94lb bumper in my rig. I guess it's just an attitude thing with me.

The person with whom I spoke was very nice and did say that the bumper is fully warranted for life, on and off road. But I'm not sure what that really covers now. She said just ship it back and they'll fix it. Will there be a $50 box opening fee, a $150 fee for shop supplies and another $50 fee to pick it up?

That sealed the deal for me. Overpriced, overdone, and a handling fee is a bold attempt to jack up the price of an already overpriced item.

NO WAY will I give them my money. It will gladly go ELSEWHERE!

Re: First ROAD ARMOR FJ Bumper

A second dilemma:

Road Armor bullbar, $1040 shipped, no lights.

Expedition One, $998 with lights, +shipping.

Re: First ROAD ARMOR FJ Bumper

I went to the road armor web site but it's full of bugs. I click on a picture to enlarge it and get a blank screen. I clicked on an FJ picture and it took me to a Nissan truck. I also clicked on their price link and get a 404 message that the site is unavailable. Is it me? Doubt it since I don't have problems with other FJ sites.
