I've tried to locate the switch (84988-35060), per the 2 local Toyota parts guy, the Toyota National System does not indicate this part is available in the US yet. Anyone get any better feed back?
Thanks
Any online vendors that we can order this thru? Anyone on the forums have a dealer they would reecomend?

Is the part so specialized that Radio Shack wouldn't have anything generic??

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

Hi, I just jumped back in this thread in a big way. Ordered my switch and it'll be here friday. Umm, the parts gal said there was a flag by the part number. I'll get mine because there was one at the depot but I heard something about taking VIN numbers in the future. Might be time to get them now. I have a feeling that they might start cross checking options to VIN numbers to see if they should sell you this part. Radio Shack will have no such pitfalls however lol.

does this hack work without having rear locker?
By the way there is a part number for the switch in a vehicle without a rear locker.

84988-35050

I don't know anything more about it though.

"""""EDIT FROM THE FUTURE""""""

No ATRAC without a locker!

Or it could be that Toyota will start putting A-Trac on all 4x4's in the future, as they should have done todate. It has been suggested that Toyota wasn't sure how A-Trac would be received in the FJ and it was left out of base models for the hardcore guys that would add front lockers. Trail Team members have said some very positive thing about A-Trac and Toyota could just decide to make it available on all 4x4 models - as it seems the electronic hardware (except switch) and software are already built in.

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

That would sure be more reasonable.

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

I'm assuming that the ATRAC hack must work if Toyota is going to potentially check VIN numbers. Get 'em while you can, huh?

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks
