Well I just got back from ordering my A-TRAC switch at the local dealer. It will be here Friday
No question, no hassle, no problems
Just went in, said I need to order one of these (handed her the paper with the part number), and $64.44 later. I had a receipt for the switch.
This is GREAT!!
Now I just need my FJ to arrive
Unless they just got a delivery at Torrence, CA. You were fed a load of crap for a Friday delivery, as we've all been told 2-3 weeks before they get a shipment. Keep us posted

ruebarb - I'm located in Colorado, so it might be a different situation? But I'll keep you all posted.

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

I wonder if the new steering wheel controls I ordered from Toyota will void my warranty!!!

It didn't come with the controls...

I don't buy the voiding of the warranty for adding OEM parts since the component and the harness is already in place.

Besides...who's to say that they don't add the switches at the port on the ATRAC models?

We live in a world of plug-n-play!!!!

First, I agree with your comment on OEM parts not voiding warranties. However, the ATRAC models are built that way at the factory in Japan. Option UP or UR (the option that includes ATRAC) is a factory (only) option, and not Port Installed.

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

How do you install the A-Trac Switch?

Has anyone done or figure out how to remove the console to plug in the switch? I can't see any screws?" Please help. Thanks

I was being facetious regarding the port installed switch.

I was able to order an ATRAC switch today with not even a question regarding the VIN#. It was not yet in stock as most have found, but his system did show that they were available and due in next week.

2 Cheap and easy A-trac hacks? I'll give you cheap, but that seems like a lot of work.

How long has it taken someone to do the install?

Re: 2 cheap and easy A-TRAC hacks

My FJ came without UP, but did come with rear locker. I ordered the A Trac switch last week and it came in on Monday. There were no VIN questions. I should have time to mess with it this weekend and will let you know.

With regard to cheap switches from Radio Shack - come on. You have a chance to get the ATrac system for about $64 and you want to pay less?! The real switch is such a clean install. (and it says "A-Trac") Maybe you just want to buy a wire nut for 3 cents and you can connect some bare wires everytime you want to turn on A-Trac! That will save you some dough.

Details with install pics by Monday.
